Mies Van Der Rohe
In a year that saw the end of the roaring twenties and the Wall Street crash, Mies Van der Rohe rose from the ashes with inspiring and modern creations that were undoubtedly ahead of their time. Since its creation almost 80 years ago, the Barcelona Chair has become an iconic piece of furniture.
Commonly perceived as an icon of Bauhaus Architecture, the original Barcelona Chair was inspired by ancient Roman folding chairs, with Mies van der Rohe having always maintained the original as an important artistic statement to be revered. Re-designed by Mies himself in 1950 to reflect the new technology accessible as a direct result of post war industries, our replica Barcelona chair now features a continuous stainless frame and handmade leather cushions.
Our replica is the perfect reproduction with dimensions identical to that of the original design. The upholstery is pony hide leather all over, including the back and underside of the seat. To create the deep, precise tufting, each panel of leather is carefully selected, hand cut, hand piped, hand tufted and individually sewn by master leather craftsmen.
The cushions are made from high-resiliency urethane foam with Dacron wrap to provide you with the proper amount of plush comfort and firm support for generations of durability.
